As we close out on another month, sometimes it’s good to take a reflective moment on your fitness routine. You’ve been consistent with everything, but it feels repetitive, and your motivation is depleting. Try these monthly goals to give you a refresh and keep that motivation at full steam ahead.
Change Up Your Playlist
If you’re like me, you need music throughout the entire workout, but the same songs can get old. Take some time to give your workout playlist a refresh. Remove songs that no longer give you the motivation boost, and add new ones! Feel free to see what’s on my workout playlist – Spotify. Please add any of your favorite songs if you want!
Set a PR Goal
Lifting heavier weights is a great sign you’re getting stronger. Choose one or more exercises you want to get stronger with and set a weight goal for the end of the month. Although I advocate for lighter weight and more reps to build muscle, you can still do a higher rep range with heavier weight as you get stronger.
Get Your Steps In
The best refresh you need could be stepping away from an intense workout and into a walk outside. Set a step count or miles goal. Walking can improve your mood, help with better sleep, and is an excellent form of cardio. It might be the perfect time to revamp the workout playlist during your walk.
Note Down What You’re Grateful For
It’s easy to get caught up in all the bad that we forget about all the good things we should be grateful for. Grab a notebook or journal to write down what you’ve accomplished, what you’re thankful for, or small goals you hope to achieve by the end of the month. If you’re not a fan of journaling, relax in a quiet spot to reflect on all the good in your life. Practicing gratitude should be a significant part of your routine.
Try New Foods
Maybe you need to try out new foods or recipes to give yourself a reset. Enjoying the food you eat plays a big part in the consistency of your fitness routine. The more you try out new healthy foods that you like, the more you can incorporate variety. Even reward yourself with a maybe not so “healthy” treat as you keep reaching milestones. All about balance, right?
Hit the Reset Button
At the end of every month, hit the reset button. Having monthly goals to give you a refresh can keep you moving forward, avoiding the feeling of being stuck.
